Yes, but there is no way to avoid it. Once you have enough points to fill it, you can only raise EGO through pursuits.

It would be good to get a display somewhere on screen showing exactly what perks and effects are triggering at a given time. Eg. Suckerpunch Icon displays when your shooting something in the back. Or Loyalty +100% Damage next shot expires after 10 seconds. Passive perks always display. Right now you don't know whats triggering and when. I'm not missing a menu option for that right?
